After India's stellar six-run victory over England in the fifth Test, former Pakistan cricketer Shabbir Ahmed's post on ball tampering accusations against Team India has sparked a controversy. According to Ahmed's post, Team India used Vaseline after 80 overs. Read more.
Mohammed Siraj has been dominating the headlines after his back-to-back striking performances on the field. After marking a stellar show in the fifth Test match against England that took place at The Oval, India's fastest bowler is once again in the news, and this time it's because of accusations of ball tampering. According to HT, former Pakistan pacer Shabbir Ahmed accused Team India and cricketers Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna of ball tampering in the fifth and final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at The Oval. He even accused them of using 'Vaseline' to maintain the shine of the ball even when it got old.
Ahmed shared a post on his X (formerly called Twitter), which read, I think. India used Vaseline. After 80 and over. The ball still shine like new. The umpire should send this ball to the lab for examination." The post grabbed major attention of netizens, who flooded the comment section with reactions.
Not only did he make the allegations, but Ahmed also urged the ICC umpires to send the ball used by India in Days 4 and 5 of the series final for a lab examination. Ahmed's reaction came after India registered their narrowest Test win by six runs to match the five-match series level.
On day 5 of the fifth Test between India and England, Mohammed Siraj managed to get a ball that was nearly 80 overs old to swing both ways. On the other hand, Prasidh Krishna also generated movement, perhaps not as much as Siraj, but still enough to trouble the batters.
The conditions were so favourable that India's captain, Shubman Gill, chose to take the second new ball, despite the team requiring just three wickets with England close to the target. The decision paid off handsomely.
During the match, Siraj consistently swung the ball away from the right-handers while mixing in full, in-swinging deliveries to dismantle England's tail. He first removed their only established batter, Jamie Smith, with an outswinger, then trapped Jamie Overton lbw with a sharp in-seamer.
Following this, after taking a couple of early wickets, Siraj and Prasidh both applied the brakes on the opposite team. Finally, Krishna finally got the wicket of Josh Tongue, but the decision was for a delivery to rattle the stumps of Tongue.
Meanwhile, both Siraj and Prasidh Krishna delivered several threatening balls on a pitch that consistently helped seamers throughout the Test, regardless of the ball's age.
As soon as the post surfaced on social media, it quickly grabbed the attention of netizens. One questioned, "Aren't you the same chap who got banned by the ICC for a suspect bowling action? Before casting aspersions on India look at your own history of being a cheat & getting caught at the international level."

"Former Pak test player between! 😂," one joked.
"Your countrymen use Vaseline up your asses to ease pain. We don't have such preferences." "Mental impotency of a Porkistani pdf-file," one added.
While one joked, "Remote control was setup in the ball. It was such that Morkel and Gambhir could change direction of the ball by touching or blowing air on the TV screen. Techonologiaaa....."
However, this is not the first time an ex-Pakistan pacer has accused India; earlier also the tampering of the ball's conditions by the Indian team was also questioned.
