Indian man abused for worshipping Donald Trump statue after the US President raises tariff to 50%

Amid the escalating trade tensions and concerns over Donald Trump's steep tariff hike on Indian exports, a throwback post showing a temple in India dedicated to former US President Donald Trump has resurfaced on Reddit, sparking a fresh wave of criticism amid growing apprehensions. The renewed attention on the 'Donald Trump temple' comes just after the US announced new tariffs on India, a move that has led netizens to question the past displays of devotion to Trump, calling the temple a symbol of misplaced admiration and an act of embarrassment.

On August 7, 2025, Trump announced an additional 25 per cent tariff on Indian imports, raising the total tariff on Indian goods to 50 per cent. According to ToI, the current measure is mainly focused on penalising India's continued purchases of Russian oil.

According to Hans India, in a unique tribute, a Telangana man back in 2020 constructed a dedicated temple with a statue of the American leader in there.

The temple is located in the village of Konne in the Bachannapet mandal of Jangaon district, and the temple stands as a testament to his devotion to the leader. As per the report, the temple was built by a person identified as Krishna, who was the son of Bus Ramaulu and Savitri from Telangana.

Every day, Krishna used to observe fasting rituals, hoping to bring attention to his dedication. The throwback picture of Trump has now resurfaced on social media, with netizens slamming the act.



Amid the ongoing US tariff row, users on Reddit shared throwback temple pictures of the leader slamming the act. One said, "No wonder people find it hard to respect us."

While another simply called the act 'pathetic' and 'embarrassing'. One said, "Hope that statue’s story ends in failure."


"India's got over a billion people in it. You're gonna find a lot of dumbasses when there's a billion people."

"America have less population than India, yet they found one to be their President," another added.

"The problem is, one of those dumbasses is in charge of the whole damn country."


While one revealed in the comment section that the man who constructed the temple died of a heart attack, "The man who made this shrine died of grief around 5 years ago when Trump caught COVID. He stressed himself to death that his god would die."


According to ToI, the 32-year-old diehard fan and the man behind building Donald Trump's temple died of a heart attack in 2020, just a week after he made a video in which he was profusely weeping because Trump had contracted COVID-19.

He shared a video back then, revealing that he had been in love with his god for the past four years and was not taking food properly.
