The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy will resume with the second Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham, starting Wednesday, July 2. With England leading the five-match series 1-0, Team India will be desperate to bounce back.
After letting a winning opportunity slip in the first Test against England, Team India returns to action following an eight-day break. The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy resumes with the second Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham, starting Wednesday, July 2.
With England leading the five-match series 1-0, the Men in Blue will be desperate to bounce back and avoid falling further behind. However, they may be without the services of ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who is expected to play only three matches in the series to manage his workload.
As India look to level the series in the second Test against England, weather in Birmingham might prove just as challenging as the English batting lineup. According to AccuWeather, Edgbaston's skies aren't offering full sunshine across the five days. Here's what the forecast says:
July 2 (Wednesday): Expect a stop-start opening day, with cooler temperatures, thick cloud cover, and a chance of thunderstorms. A delayed or interrupted start seems likely.
July 3 (Thursday): Conditions brighten up with some sunshine and warmer weather - shaping up to be the best day for uninterrupted cricket.
July 4 (Friday): Temperatures remain high, but increasing cloud cover later in the day could be a factor.
July 5 (Saturday): Light morning showers are possible under continued cloudy skies. Another day where rain interruptions can’t be ruled out.
July 6 (Sunday): The final day is forecast to be the gloomiest, with heavy cloud and patchy rain threatening to cut into playtime once again.
With both teams eyeing crucial moments in the series, the weather might just become the unpredictable third player on the field.
England Squad: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes(c), Jamie Smith(w), Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Josh Tongue, Shoaib Bashir, Jacob Bethell, Jofra Archer, Sam James Cook, Jamie Overton
