Rekha Gupta's appointment as Delhi's new Chief Minister comes nearly 10 days after the BJP's return to power in the capital after 26 years, winning 48 out of 70 seats in the Assembly elections.


The party has yet to announce its ministerial picks.

A three-time Municipal Councillor with a background in student politics, Gupta's selection came as a surprise.

She was chosen over several expected contenders, including Parvesh Sahib Singh, who defeated Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi seat, senior leader Vijender Gupta, and former Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyay.

The oath-taking ceremony took place at Ramlila Maidan on February 20, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, top BJP leaders, and Chief Ministers of NDA-ruled states.

With this, the BJP officially formed the government in Delhi after 27 years.
