The Rapper The Game issues a public apology to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West over an unreleased 2019 song.
Rapper The Game has publicly apologised to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West over explicit lyrics he recorded about Kim in an unreleased 2019 track. The apology comes more than six years after the song was recorded and follows recent discussions during his interview on the Club Shay Shay podcast.
Reflecting on past controversy
The Game had previously claimed to have a past relationship with Kim Kardashian before her marriage to Kanye West. In the unreleased track, he described the alleged connection in explicit detail and even acknowledged that he should apologise because of his friendship with Kanye.
On the podcast, The Game shared that Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, had once called him directly, asking him to stop publicly discussing Kim. The Game recalled telling Ye, "You got that," promising not to speak about Kim in such a way again. However, until now, he had not offered a direct apology to Kim herself.
Making amends
Encouraged by podcast host Shannon Sharpe, The Game finally extended a direct apology to Kim Kardashian. "Kim, I'm apologetic for the way that I displayed or discussed our interrelations with the public," he said, acknowledging the impact his words may have caused.
The rapper admitted that sharing such details was wrong and often acted without thinking. "Sometimes, man, you wake up and choose a little violence," he said, adding there was "no excuse" for his behaviour, reported People. He explained that in his earlier years, he sometimes made choices simply to spark controversy, but now recognises the impact of those actions.
Early days and connections
The Game also reflected on his early days in Los Angeles, where he spent time with Kim, her sisters Khloé and Kourtney, and Paris Hilton while he was starting his career. He highlighted that he still holds affection for the family and never intended to disrespect them. He also reiterated his apology to Ye for how the situation unfolded.
Throughout his career, The Game has referenced the Kardashians in several songs and interviews. In 2016, he hinted that he had been involved with three members of the family but avoided naming them directly. On The Wendy Williams Show, he explained that he wanted to protect Kanye’s family, noting that they had "beautiful kids."
Moving forward
Despite the previous drama, The Game says he is ready to move on. Alongside addressing this controversy, he also released a new project, Every Movie Needs a Trailer, on December 11, marking a fresh chapter in his career.
