Eating and preparing hot dogs is now considered treason in North Korea. According to the New York Post, there have been several arrests in connection with the alleged nationwide hotdog cooking and sales. The offenders received sentences that included hard labor in the notorious labor camps. However, North Korea has prohibited other foods before hot dogs. Many American and South Korean goods have previously been prohibited by dictator Kim Jong Un.So, here’s a look at other things prohibited in North Korea.

- Steamed rice cakes (tteokbokki) – A popular street food in South Korea.
- Short skirts
- Clothes with logos
- High heels
- Flashy clothes
- Jeans
- Foreign TV shows, books, and movies
- Possession of satellite dishes
- Celebrating birthdays on July 8th and December 17th – These dates mark the death anniversaries of Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il, respectively.
