Genshin Impact reveals new Nod-Krai characters: Varka, Alice, Columbina, and more coming to the 5.8 update

Genshin Impact has finally unveiled the first full teaser for its next region, Nod-Krai, and it’s packed with familiar faces and exciting new characters. The teaser video hints at deepening conflicts, new factions, and lore that could change everything we know about Teyvat.

The new Genshin Impact 5.8 update will drop on July 30, 2025. Here’s a full list of every character revealed and what their arrival could mean in the upcoming patch.


Varka is the long-awaited Grand Master of Mondstadt’s Knights of Favonius. His appearance suggests he’ll be central to Mondstadt’s upcoming storylines. His explorer-like armour reflects both leadership and experience, possibly preparing for a showdown with powerful new forces beyond the region.



Nefer is one of the most visually striking new characters. While little is known about them, their ancient-looking design hints at connections to forgotten civilisations or experimental origins. The name also references Nefertiti, adding an Egyptian flair to their mystery.


Flins represents the Lightkeepers, a completely new faction introduced in Nod-Krai. The Lightkeepers are tasked with protecting the land from the Abyss, also known as the Wild Hunt. This faction could bring new story mechanics revolving around light-based relics and powers.



Nicole, previously known only as “N,” is finally revealed. She is a member of the Hexenzirkel, the secretive witches’ council that Alice is part of. Nicole’s elf-like appearance, complete with wings, may link her to the Snowland Fae faction, adding more depth to Teyvat’s magical history.


Alice, Klee’s mother and a famed adventurer, is finally stepping into the spotlight. Seen in her classic witch outfit, she might play a guiding role in the upcoming region, especially given her ties to the Hexenzirkel and the mysteries of Teyvat’s world beyond.


Lauma is tied to the Frostmoon Scions, a group associated with faith and powers rooted in the Frostmoon. Her Latvian-inspired design suggests a solemn and devoted character. The Frostmoon Scions might be descendants of the mythical civilisation of Hyperborea.



Jahoda is seen sporting goggles and pilot-like attire, making her stand out as a possible explorer or member of the Treasure Hoarders. Her design hints at connections with the Voynich guild, another possible faction in Nod-Krai.


Durin, the corrupted dragon from Mondstadt’s past, is shown in human form for the first time. His transformation could be a result of alchemy or timeline disruptions, and his presence signals major shifts in Mondstadt’s narrative.


Aino was teased earlier but now makes a full appearance, dressed in green with motifs suggesting ties to the Clink-Clank Krumkake Craftshop. She might have connections to crafting or merchant guilds within Nod-Krai.



Sandrone, the Fatui Harbinger known for her Victorian-style attire and puppeteering, returns alongside her automatons. Her presence may deepen the Fatui’s manipulation of ruin-based technology and expand their influence in the new region.


Columbina, another Fatui Harbinger, is back as the hauntingly serene “Moon Maiden.” She wears celestial-themed white clothing and hints at the Moon’s importance in the unfolding story. Her ties to music, dreams, or divine forces remain a tantalising mystery.


Apart from these characters, the teaser also hints at new factions like the Snowland Fae and further elaboration on the Hexenzirkel council. The trailer’s rich visuals and character introductions suggest Nod-Krai will not just expand the map, but also redefine Genshin’s ongoing lore and conflicts.
