A 64-year-old man named Bobby Michael Dennis has been identified as the suspect in the shooting of a Jacksonville, Texas police officer on Sunday around 4:41 pm. Following the incident, a massive manhunt is underway. Authorities have described Dennis as armed and dangerous and say he may be carrying a rifle. The Texas Department of Public Safety has issued a Blue Alert, which is an emergency public warning used when a suspect accused of seriously injuring or killing a law enforcement officer is still at large and has urged residents to stay indoors and report any sightings.
According to local news outlets including FOX 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth and KLTV, the officer was airlifted to a hospital in Tyler after being shot. Authorities later confirmed that the officer is in stable condition and receiving medical care.

So far, there is no information about suspect's history or criminal background. The motive of the shooting has also not been revealed. Adrain Miller, a neighbor who was present at the scene, said that Bobby Michael Dennis lives in the same area where the shooting happened. "It was very shocking because, like I said, since I’ve been living here, I’ve never known Mr. Dennis to be a violent person," he was quoted as saying.
