Thammudu review: Nithiin’s film has failed to impress critics
Thammudu received mixed reviews with critics praising the performances but panning the execution. The Times of India stated that it was ‘weighed down by overblown melodrama’.
“Thammudu had all the ingredients for a stirring emotional-action drama, but in trying too hard to be everything, it ends up being less than the sum of its parts. A film that had the potential to hit the bullseye sadly misses the mark,” read a portion of the review.
The dull word-of-mouth is one of the biggest reasons Thammudu has not been able to live up to expectations and is likely to end up as a flop.
About Thammudu
Thammudu is an action drama set in the fictional village of Ambaragoudu where certain shocking events take place over the course of a single night. It features Nithiin and Kantara actress Sapthami Gowda as the lead pair. Laya essays a key role in Thammudu, which is her first Telugu film after Amar Akbar Anthony (2018).
Interestingly, Thammudu is not a remake or sequel to Pawan Kalyan’s film of the same name. The 1999 release was inspired by the American drama Breaking Away (1979) and emerged as a blockbuster.
