Vikrant Massey faces backlash after stating 'Muslims are not under attack' in India, a shift from his earlier views. This statement comes as he promotes The Sabarmati Report, based on the 2002 Godhra incident.
After basking in the success of 12th Fail, Vikrant Massey is all set to enthrall fans with his next release, The Sabarmati Report, a film inspired by the real-life events of 2002's Godhra train burning incident. As he is busy promoting the film, he seemingly made a controversial remark that has sparked outrage from fans. The Bollywood actor said that while he believed Muslims are under attack, he now feels it's not true. He said this while answering how he became BJP-friendly from being a critic of the political party once.
Once a BJP critic, is Vikrant Massey now BJP-friendly? When he was asked this on a podcast show with Shubhankar Mishra, Vikrant, who plays the role of a journalist in The Sabarmati Report, said, "Jo cheezein mujhe buri lagti thi, vo actually buri nahi hain. Log kehte hain musalman khatre mein hain, koi khatre mein nahi hai. Isiliye aaj mai keh raha hun ki I have changed over the last ten years. (The things I used to find bad are actually not bad. People say Muslims are in danger, but no one is in danger. That’s why I am saying today that I have changed over the last ten years.)"
As his statement went viral, people have started trolling Vikrant for changing his stance ahead of the release of his film. "This guy used to be a typical leftist," one of the users said. "Bro, his movie is about to come," said another one. "Either he is acting because his movie is coming Or his eyes opened," said another user.
For the unversed, Vikrant Massey, who co-starred in the 2020 film Chhapaak with Deepika Padukone, had visited to Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) to show his support for students who were attacked by a mob.
"Don't give too much credit to Bollywood folks. They will dance to the tunes of the current ecosystem. He is just smart enough to gauge that the current govt is here to stay," said another user. "Hehas not changed yet, it is just showing off," said another user. "Movie aa rahi hai to unhe pata hai kya bolna hai (His movie is coming, so they know what to say)," said another user.
In an interview with Unfiltered by Samdish, he had revealed that his family represents different faiths. While his father is a Sikh, his mother is Christian. He said that he appreciates Hindu traditions as well. Furthermore, he said that his elder brother Moeen changed his religion to Islam when he was 17 and the family welcomed his decision. "My family let him change his religion. They said, ‘Son, if you find satisfaction in this, then go ahead," he said.

He’s an opportunist, just like most people who claim on the social media and the mainstream media to follow any kind of political ideology
