Here's why Pakistanis are upset with Mehwish Hayat for featuring in Jatt Mehkma song with Honey Singh

Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat has sparked controversy with her appearance in the music video for Yo Yo Honey Singh's song Jatt Mehkma. People of the country are mighty upset with her clothes tagging them as "vulgar" in the music video, which was released last Friday and has already gained over 13 million views.

The first person to slam her was Pakistani YouTuber Sabih Sumair, who has over 6 lakh subscribers. Calling out Hayat for following the Bollywood "item girl" trend, he recalled how she has once said that she would never work with Indians. He criticised her for working with Honey Singh and also wearing revealing outfits. One user on X even joked how Pakistan's honor would have been preserved if Yo Yo gave the fur coat he is wearing in the video to Hayat.


Some other users were unhappy with another video doing the rounds in which Honey Singh apparently touched her without her consent while shooting a fun reel in which he is also singing the song. WhileMehwish Hayat seemed comfortable with it, many slammed her and Singh for this behaviour.

Since her acting debut in 2015, Hayat has appeared in popular Pakistani films like Punjab Nahi Jaungi (2017), Load Wedding (2018), and London Nahi Jaunga (2022), making her a household name. In October, she teased her collaboration with Honey Singh on Instagram, where she has 5.2 million followers, sharing a reel of them dressed in outfits from the Jatt Mehkma video. The post was captioned, "Karampura Karachi connection baby something exclusive with one n only."
