President-elect Donald Trump is expected to sign an executive order banning transgender individuals from serving in the U.S. military, reversing a policy implemented by President Biden. The move could discharge 15,000 transgender service members and halt future recruitment.
The Times claimed that US President-elect Donald Trump is poised to issue an executive order excluding transgender service members from the military, citing defence sources. Trump is reportedly ready to sign orders prohibiting transgender people from serving in the United States military shortly after taking office on January 20 of next year. The move would medically discharge 15,000 transgender service members from the military, declaring them unfit to serve.

The directives would also prohibit transgender people from joining the military, at a time when nearly every branch of the US armed forces is struggling to fulfill recruitment goals.
Trump has criticized "woke" tactics in the military, claiming that certain top commanders prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion over readiness. During his first term, Trump stated that the United States will no longer "accept or allow" transgender people in the military, citing "tremendous medical costs and disruption." The ban went into effect in 2019.
Joe Biden allowed
However, upon assuming office, President Joe Biden changed that policy. Now, Trump is expected to overturn Biden's order and move forward by removing the currently serving trans troops, according toThe Times.

The executive order is one of many moves that President-elect Trump intends to take upon his return to the White House, including extensive immigration measures. All of these initiatives are expected to face considerable legal challenges.
