Rahul Kumar is walking 220 kilometres during the Kanwar Yatra, carrying 121 litres of Gangajal to pray for his girlfriend’s dream of becoming an IPS officer. This is his fourth year doing it, and he says he will continue until their shared wish is fulfilled. His story is winning hearts online.
The Kanwar Yatra is a powerful journey of faith, but for one young man from Delhi, it’s also a journey of love. Rahul Kumar is making headlines for walking 220 kilometres with a heavy Kanwar filled with 121 litres of Gangajal, all for one heartfelt wish, that his girlfriend clears the UPSC and becomes an IPS officer.
Every year, lakhs of Shiva devotees known as Kanwariyas take this spiritual journey during the holy month of Shravan. They walk barefoot, carry water from the Ganga, and offer it to Shiva temples back home. But Rahul’s reason has caught attention for its emotional and personal touch.
Rahul, a resident of Narela in Delhi, is on his fourth Kanwar Yatra. Last year, he carried 101 litres of Ganga water. This year, he has increased the weight to 121 litres, showing his growing devotion and determination. He believes in Lord Shiva and says he won’t stop this journey until his girlfriend’s dream becomes real.
Rahul has studied up to Class 12, but he says it’s his girlfriend’s goal he’s chasing with prayers. She is preparing hard for the civil services exam. Rahul hopes his walk and prayers will bring her closer to the IPS badge.
Rahul is not walking alone. His friend Nandlal is following him on a bike, helping and supporting him along the way. Together, they are part of the larger group of Kanwariyas making their way to Haridwar.
The love story has gone viral online, touching many hearts with its mix of faith, hope, and love. While Rahul continues walking with Gangajal on his shoulders, he carries something even heavier, a big dream and a prayer that one day, the girl he loves will wear the IPS uniform.
