Elon Musk confirms Grok’s text-to-video feature will launch in October 2025 via the Imagine tool powered by Aurora engine. Super Grok users get early access via the Grok app, which already offers image generation, voice chat, and AI avatars like Valentine and Rudy.
Grok will begin rolling out its new text-to-video generation feature in October 2025. Elon Musk confirmed the launch by reposting the announcement from Grok’s official X account. He encouraged users to download the standalone Grok app and subscribe to access the new tool. “You’ll soon be able to generate videos on Grok. Download the standalone @Grokapp and subscribe,” Musk wrote in his post.
The feature will be made available across the Grok platform, including the mobile application. Grok’s post also indicated that this capability will be integrated into the platform’s existing Imagine feature.
How the video generation tool will work
According to Grok’s official announcement on X, the new video generation tool will be powered by its Imagine feature, which runs on the Aurora engine. With this integration, users will be able to generate instant videos — complete with sound — simply by providing text prompts.
The company also shared that early access will begin in October, and it will initially be available only to Super Grok subscribers, who pay $30 per month. Users can now join the waitlist through the standalone Grok app to be among the first to try the feature. A broader rollout is expected after early access has been granted to premium subscribers.
Other features already available in the Grok app
The Grok app already supports multiple AI-powered tools, including image generation, conversational AI, and voice chat. The addition of the video generation feature is expected to expand its media creation capabilities significantly.
Grok’s current AI suite is part of the X Premium+ subscription, which combines several advanced AI services for paid users. Super Grok subscribers benefit from enhanced Grok AI features such as DeepSearch, real-time data access, and improved image generation tools.
Grok’s custom AI companions also exclusive to super Grok users
In addition to its upcoming video feature, Grok recently introduced custom AI companions, adding interactive characters to its user experience. This companion feature includes three digital personas:
