The much-anticipated third episode ofThe Summer I Turned PrettySeason 3 dropped today (July 23) on Prime Video, following last week’s two-episode premiere. Fans had been waiting for this one, and for good reason. It marked the first time Belly (Lola Tung) and Conrad (Christopher Briney) shared a real scene this season that wasn’t just a flashback. But what could’ve been a heartfelt Bonrad moment quickly turned into a meme-worthy disaster when Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) pulled out a proposal ring so tiny, you’d need a microscope to spot the diamond. And no, that’s not an exaggeration.


Belly and Jeremiah are officially engaged. While he popped the question at the end of episode 2, it’s in episode 3 that we finally see the ring—and let’s just say, fans were not ready. Belly’s junior year has wrapped, Jeremiah’s still stuck in his super senior era, and Conrad? Still pining... and currently jobless. Meanwhile, Steven and Taylor are hitting a rough patch of their own.

The big engagement reveal happens at a family dinner following a memorial for Susannah. When Laurel, Belly’s mom, assumes they’re joking, Belly sharply pulls the ring from her pocket and slides it on with full dramatic flair. It was supposed to be a powerful moment, but the internet couldn’t get past that ring. If you’ve read Jenny Han’s books, you’d know the ring is described as tiny… but nothing prepared fans for how hilariously underwhelming it would look onscreen.



The internet has pretty much unanimously crowned this the first filler episode of the season, with many calling it painfully slow in terms of plot progression. But if there’s one thing that saved the episode from total snoozefest status, it’s Belly’s engagement ring. The storyline may have stalled, but that tiny ring sparked a wave of memes that had social media in stitches.

One X user wrote, "Belly says she wishes she could wear the ring now. Mind you, she could, and nobody would notice."


"Belly girl, what are you even trying to show off here, like... is the engagement ring in the room with us?" another user mentioned, referring to the scene where Belly tried to show off her ring.
