Times when Donald Trump made headlines for his changed stance on global issues

1. Ukraine–Russia
Trump initially favored Russia by pressing Ukraine for concessions and threatening to cut off U.S. military aid and intelligence sharing. However, after Putin showed no interest in cooperation, Trump reversed course, announcing new weapons for Ukraine and warning of stricter sanctions on Russia.

2. India – Tariffs
Trump imposed a 25% blanket tariff on Indian imports and criticized India's ties with Russia. Though he threatened to raise tariffs further, he frequently shifted between tough rhetoric and openness to negotiation, depending on India’s trade behavior.

3. China – Tariffs
Trump escalated tariffs on Chinese goods up to 145%, only to later reduce them to 30% amid economic concerns raised by his advisors. He also introduced a temporary 90-day pause on global tariffs, while continuing to target China more aggressively, claiming strategic flexibility.

4. Israel–Palestine
Trump once suggested removing Palestinians from Gaza but walked it back after global criticism. While he has recently called for a ceasefire, he has avoided pressuring Israel directly, offering mixed signals that reflect a transactional rather than unwavering stance on the U.S.-Israel alliance.
