Cha Eun Woo teams up with Arden Cho for a heartfelt cover of Free from KPop Demon Hunters, just days before his military enlistment on July 28. The duet has fans emotional as the ASTRO star wraps up activities ahead of his mandatory military service.
ASTRO member and K-drama star Cha Eun Woo recently teamed up with actress‑singer Arden Cho to cover Free, a standout song from KPop Demon Hunters. Their duet gives a fresh voice to the emotional soundtrack hit, with fans celebrating the synergy between Arden’s character Rumi’s vocals and Eun Woo’s charisma. The film’s soundtrack is already a runaway success, climbing charts and capturing hearts.
In their surprise duet, Arden Cho and Cha Eun Woo breathe new life into Free, one of the most emotional tracks from KPop Demon Hunters. The acoustic-style cover was released on YouTube, featuring soft lighting, raw vocals, and stripped-down instrumentation that highlighted their natural chemistry.
Arden, who voices the lead character Rumi in the animated film, handled the opening lines with a wistful tone, while Cha Eun Woo took over the second verse with his signature breathy falsetto.
When they sang together in harmony, fans described it as “angelic” and “unexpectedly moving.” The video has already racked up thousands of views within hours of release, with commenters praising both stars for capturing the heartache and longing of the original track. A second cover from Cha Eun Woo fans will remember
This is not Cha’s first KPop Demon Hunters moment in the spotlight. Recently, he performed Saja Boys, a fictional group from Netflix's animated film, hit track MyLittleSodaPop, during ASTRO’s concert, delighting fans with his vocal range and stage presence. Now, with Free, he shows his versatility once again, this time in a collaborative setting that has now left fans emotional, as it might be his last official performance before he enlists in the South Korean military.
Cha Eun Woo is scheduled to enlist on July 28, 2025, for his mandatory service in the Republic of Korea Army’s military band. He officially applied and cleared the interview process in May and was accepted by the Military Manpower Administration to serve as a musician in the band.
He will undergo basic training before joining the band. To avoid crowding or safety issues, the enlistment location and time are being kept private, and no public event will be held. In recent days he debuted a short haircut on social media, a symbolic readiness for military life, and fans responded with emotional messages.
Beyond music, Cha Eun Woo has established himself as a leading actor in Korean dramas. He made his acting debut in My Brilliant Life in 2014 and rose to fame with roles in hit series like Gangnam Beauty (2018), Rookie Historian Goo Hae‑ryung (2019), True Beauty (2020–21), Island (2022–23), A Good Day to Be a Dog (2023–24) and Wonderful World (2024). In 2024, he debuted as a solo singer with his EP Entity, featuring the single Stay, and later released ASTRO’s surprise track Circles.
