Vijay Sethupathi’s Thalaivan Thalaivii hit the screens on July 25 and opened to a good response at the Indian box office. According to Sacnilk, a trade website, the romantic comedy earned Rs 4.15 crore (nett) in India on the opening day. It also received positive reviews. Ramesh Bala, a trade analyst, told Indiatimes that the film needs to earn a further Rs 21 crore (approx) in its full run to emerge as a success. This essentially means that its breakeven target is Rs 25 crore.
Thalaivan Thalaivii witnessed an overall occupancy was around 47%. The morning shows had an occupancy of 30.14%. The afternoon shows saw an occupancy of 41.95%. The evening (46.54%) and night (69.38%) too fared well in this regard. In terms of centres, it found wide patronage in Trichy where the overall occupancy was 81%. Given the trend, Bala feels the family drama is set to be a ‘blockbuster’.
