Every single is eating 12 grapes under the table on NYE but is it bringing love?

If you thought the internet had reached its peak weirdness, think again. As we roll into 2026, the world is once again preparing for the most chaotic, fruity, and delightfully unhinged New Year’s Eve ritual ever: eating twelve grapes under a table at midnight. Yes, under a table. Because apparently love, money, and cosmic blessings now prefer low ceilings and bad lighting.

The internet’s New Year obsession returns

This superstition, originally known asuvasde la suerte or the Twelve Grapes, is being resurrected across social media like a seasonal ghost determined to trend.

The tradition began in Spain in the late 1800s, partly as a cheeky jab at wealthy Parisians who ate grapes with champagne. Later, grape farmers in Alicante saw a marketing opportunity and fully leaned in, encouraging people to eat a grape for each month of the upcoming year.

The goal? Swallow all twelve before the clock finishes chiming, and the universe supposedly hands you prosperity on a silver platter.
