Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar, is poised to become a significant infrastructure and economic landmark for Western Uttar Pradesh. Designed as a greenfield airport with world-class facilities, NIA aims to enhance global connectivity for the Delhi-NCR region while generating employment and business opportunities for local communities.
The airport project is being implemented under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, with participation from over 30 reputed companies, including Tata Projects, Indian Oil, and Bird Group. Reports indicate that the project is expected to create more than 5,000 employment opportunities, offering standard benefits such as minimum wage, PF, ESI, and gratuity.
Efforts are also being made to connect Project Affected Families (PAF) with employment opportunities. Over 180 candidates have registered on an online career portal designed to link local youth to available jobs. In addition, three recruitment camps were organized, resulting in 24 youth receiving job offers. Skill development initiatives have been expanded, including modernized courses at ITI Jewar in areas like passenger handling and ramp operations, with 24 of 28 trainees securing employment so far. English and soft skills training has also been provided to nearly 100 young members from PAF communities.
The airport is being developed with a focus on sustainability and aims to operate towards net-zero emissions. With an initial annual capacity of 1.2 crore passengers, the facility is expected to serve as an economic hub, driving growth in sectors such as transport, logistics, and allied services in Western UP.
Administrators are closely monitoring project implementation to ensure timely completion and equitable benefit distribution. The combination of infrastructure expansion, job creation, and skill development is anticipated to generate long-term economic and social benefits for the region, supporting both local communities and broader regional connectivity.
