The background

The conversation started when Mamata Banerjee posted on X (formerly Twitter) about the BJP’s actions in Assam. Rupali Ganguly, known for speaking out on political issues, responded by asking the Chief Minister to focus on problems in West Bengal instead and avoid shedding ‘crocodile tears’.

A part of her post read, “From Sandeshkhali to Murshidabad, the only atrocities on Bengalis are happening under her watch.”

Here’s what’s happening now

Reacting to this, TMC leader called Rupali a flop actress and wrote, “The seniormost stateswoman of India doesn’t need lectures from a flop soap actress. FO!.”

Rupali hit back saying, “Isn't your so-called 'senior-most stateswoman' a public servant, or she's a dictator who can’t be questioned. But if you’ve already accepted her tyranny instead of her duty to the people, then congratulations on embracing dictatorship. Classic TMC behaviour!”

Many people came out in support of Rupali, agreeing with her stance and praising how sharp and confident she has become on X. Some users also called out the TMC leader for allegedly using the term "FO" while referring to the actress, condemning the personal attack.
